RE:MEMBERING

I found that quote this morning in Susan Sontag's As Consciousness Is Harnessed to Flesh. I'm unsure where in Pound's work Sontag found that bit, but it is an interesting statement.

Remember is mostly member. To re-member is to reconstitute a body. But nothing is ever returned to its original state.

  1. Not returning things to their original state is most of the charm of re-membering and is the whole charm of reciting in public from memory...
